Morning Drop-Off Procedures 7:00 am- Students may enter at the front door or side door near the Butterfly Garden (from side off of Fairmeadow Drive). Children will be supervised in the two foyers until 7:15am. 7:15 am- All doors open and students may enter building. Breakfast service begins. The Front Office opens as well. When students enter, they either go to the cafeteria for breakfast or go to their classroom hallway. Students quietly sit and read in the hallway outside their classrooms. Each hall is supervised by a teacher. 7:30 am- Classrooms open, and students enter to get settled in for their day. 7:35 am- Warning Bell Rings 7:40 am- Tardy Bell Rings (any student not in class at that time is counted Tardy) 7:55 am- Any students still entering tardy at this point must be accompanied by a parent for check-in at the office due to the significant amount of time late.
Bus Riders- These students will not be counted tardy if the bus causes them to arrive late. They will always have the opportunity to get breakfast. Bus rider students enter the front door of the building. Walkers & Bike Riders- Crossing Guards are posted at the intersection of Teravista Club Drive and Teravista Parkway (at the Club House), at the Arbor Lake Crossing, at Meyer’s Park, and at all 4 corners of the Teravista Elementary property. Students must get off bikes and scooters and walk them once they get on the school property. These students may enter any door of the building EXCEPT the side door on the side of the building off of Ridgebend. No children should be traveling on foot in this staff parking lot.
The side parking lot off of Ridgebend is for STAFF ONLY. No other cars should even enter this parking lot. This parking lot is tight and has poor visibility. Students and parents should not even walk through this lot. NEW THIS YEAR- Most staff are being assigned to this lot to maximize its use. This will allow more parking in other lots for parents and visitors. Car Drop-Off- Parents may drive right up and drop their children off out at the curb on the side drive off of Fairmeadow. Parents are to create a line that hugs the school property and wraps around the back of the building onto Greyleaf. Parents may also line up to the south on Fairmeadow from the Greyleaf intersection. Cars should take turns entering the line at that point. NO CARS SHOULD TURN IN TO THE SIDE CAR DROP-OFF LINE FROM THE LEFT. NO LEFT TURNS INTO DRIVE! (Cars waiting to left turn create an issue for cars leaving the drive. Gridlock happens.) Parent Walk-Up- Parents may park and walk their children into school. 3. Here is the link to an overview of Home Access for your child’s grades. Signing up will allow you to view your child’s grades as well as missing work. Mrs. Ann Round is our contact at Teravista at 704-0502.
If you need to pick your child up early, please have your child (or you may also) send a note to the office, preferably prior to the start of the school day. The note should contain the following information:
1. Students name and teacher
2. The date
3. What time the student should be picked up in the office?
4.. Will student return to school or are they leaving for the day?
Student needs to bring the note to the office (preferably prior to the start of the school day) to obtain a bright pink slip which will serve as the students "pass" to come to the office at the time requested for early pick up. We will also have a form on the school website that parents can use in case they forget to send a note. In that case a pink note will be delivered to your class by office staff. This will allow us to have your child packed up and waiting for you in the office. What a win-win for everyone! 5. Parent Volunteer application - needs to be completed for the 2015-16 school year.
6. Teravista eBackpack - online version of hand out papers from Tuesday Folder
7. Remind - Remind provides a safe way for teachers to text message students and stay in touch with parents. It is 100% free. Students and parents join by sending a text message. No computer needed. More information will follow from your child’s homeroom teacher. COMING SOON TO YOUR FAMILY
